laura: I'm too long winded, too! Anyway, sometimes success can be scarey and we think we don't deserve to be happy...that's a bunch of b.s.! You DO derserve this major milestone/success in your life! Lots of love & encouragement to you, my friend...!
Laura: Tommy----I think everyone has binged in some sort of fashion....ie: drinking, shopping, and something else I probably shouldn't mention! ;-) We sometimes fall off our convictions, but then have to get right back on and start fresh without guilt and without remorse. Those two feelings can push a person back into the binging stage. Just keep sight of your goal and don't let anything stand in your way! You're almost there!!! You can see the light at the end of the tunnel and sometimes success c

I try to walk everyday, but it's hard to get motivated at times. The way you are losing weight is the best way and you will be successful. Keep writing your blog and keep being open with people about what's going on. Believe me that really helps. I've seen people not wanting help from their family and they weren't successful. If you keep involving pe

The Results Are In.....

  • Mood: A Happy Kind Of Melancholy
  • Music: Bon Jovi - Baby Come Home For Christmas
Howdy!

Well, I did the final weigh-in and fitness assessment and the results came back pretty good.
  • Since last Monday, the 7th, I lost another 16 pounds!  So, for the competition total that comes to a whopping 74 pound loss.  Holy crap.  I can't believe it.
  • My resting heartrate went from 82 BPM the first week to 65 BPM today.    That's a -21% decrease
  • When we did a 3-minute step test, the first time my heart maxed out at 114 BPM, and now it maxed at 100 BPM.  That's a -12% decrease.
  • My bench press results still suck; 7 reps the first time, 9 reps this time.  Time to work on strength.
  • Half Situp test went from 44 reps 2 months ago to 74 reps today.  That's a 68% increase. Yay!
  • Sit-reach hip flexion - Last time I got 0 inches.  Today, I was able to reach 8 inches!!!! That's a 700% increase according to my paperwork! I don't think I even moved that thing in grade school!!!
  • I'm not sure of the inches lost total, but I can tell ya:  I lost -1.75 in the neck, -6.25 inches in the shoulders, -6.38 inches in the chest, and losses in my legs and arms as well.
Wow, color me satisfied!!!! If you would have tried to convince me 10 weeks ago that exercise and proper nutrition would yiled these results, I wouldn't have believed you.  But, holy sh*t, it works.....and the result you see in weight loss and physical improvement is directly linked to what you put into your body, and how hard you work to lose it.  Man, what an epiphany.....I am simply amazed.  I never, ever thought I'd see a light at the end of the tunnel.....and now, today, I think I can see a glimmer of light.  I have faith.  I am filled with hope, and that feels great.

Ok, I'm getting choked up now thinking about it all.....today was really hard walking away from Fitness Together.....I think of all the support and faith everyone has had in me and it leaves me teary.  I am so fortunate to have gone through this process and be led in the right direction.  There's no turning back; I have to continue to make everyone as proud, if not more proud than I am.  Gosh, I hope no one walks in on me now, I'm a litlle teary eyed.....I appreciate everything everyone has done for me at Fitness Together in the last 8 weeks;  putting up with my tired attitude at times, motivating me when I didn't think I could do it anymore.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart - I really love you all for the kindness you've shown to me.  Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!

I have to go now; but I will update Sunday night and letcha all know who won the grand prize.  It's amazing;  everyone in this contest deserves to win.....Everyone did so great.  I hope we can all keep in touch and see how each other are doing.  I would like that!!!

Have a great weekend people, and we will talk with ya'all soon!!!!

Faith, Hope & Love -
Tommy Boy
